Chez Ali Fantasia: a dinner show with horses

Chez Ali sits on the edge of the Palmeraie, about 20 minutes from the medina; pickup is at 19:30. From about 20:00 to 22:30 you are seated under caidal tents while dinner is served and folklore troupes perform between courses: music, dancers, acrobats and flying-carpet acts. Around 22:30 everyone moves to the open arena for the Fantasia, or Tbourida: rows of horsemen in white robes charge together and fire their rifles into the sky. The show ends around 23:30 and you are back by midnight.

The classic menu at MAD 550 (about €55) brings harira, Moroccan salads, a beef or chicken tagine and mint tea. The méchoui menu at MAD 600 (about €60) replaces the tagine with whole roast lamb and couscous. Transport, entrance, dinner and the show are included with either.

    • Families: the tour page describes Chez Ali as a family venue and lists reduced rates for children under 12; confirm the child price in writing
    • Travellers whose day is already full, because nothing starts before 19:30
    • Anyone who wants an evening out without physical activity
    • Guests who do not need alcohol with dinner

Agafay sunset evening: quad, camel and dinner

Pickup is at 14:00 from hotels and riads in the medina, Gueliz, Hivernage and the Palmeraie, then a 45-minute drive south-west to the Agafay stone desert. After a safety briefing and helmet, you ride a quad for an hour with the High Atlas on the horizon; no licence is needed, and whether you ride your own quad or share one is confirmed in writing when you book. A 30-minute camel ride follows at sunset, then a welcome mint tea, buffet dinner and fire show at the Berber camp, with the return around 22:00.

Agafay is a stone desert, not the Sahara: there are no sand dunes. The camel ride is optional, and children can ride as passengers on the quad and on their own camel with a handler on foot.

    • Visitors with limited time who want a desert evening without a long drive
    • Groups who want quad, camel, sunset, dinner and a fire show in one booking
    • Travellers who want a stone-desert sunset without booking a multi-day Sahara trip

Reconsider it if you expect sand dunes, want drinks included, or want a shorter evening: it runs about 8 hours door to door.

    Which evening to choose

    • Short on free hours: Chez Ali, because it starts at 19:30
    • Want to be active: Agafay, with an hour of quad and a camel ride
    • Travelling with children: both work — at Chez Ali children watch the horses, acrobats and flying-carpet acts; at Agafay they ride as passengers
    • Lowest published price: Agafay at €35, against €55 for the Chez Ali classic menu
    • Spectacle or scenery: Chez Ali for the horse show; Agafay for the sunset over the stone desert
    • Want both: they cannot share an evening (Agafay returns around 22:00, Chez Ali picks up at 19:30), so book them on different nights

    Booking and payment

Both evenings include pickup and return, so the published price covers the evening apart from the extras listed above. Payment timing and any deposit are confirmed in writing before booking. Send your date, the number of people, children's ages and dietary needs on WhatsApp; we usually reply within 30 minutes during operating hours.
